Davis cuts list to seven

Jackson Davis, a standout at Lexington (Ky.) Lafayette, narrowed his list of schools to seven on Wednesday.

Last month Jackson Davis backed off a pledge to Rice and reopened his recruitment. His availability led to a number of interested parties.

Davis' last three high school games were attended by the likes of Kevin Stallings, Brian Gregory, Mark Fox, Rick Ray, Mike Brey, Richard Pitino, Brandon Miller and a number of others.

After reeling in more than a dozen scholarship offers, Davis has cut his list to Alabama, Arizona State, Butler, Columbia, Creighton, Vanderbilt and Florida, according to his father Jonathan Davis.

Why these seven schools?

"They all have an immediate need for his skill set," the elder Davis told Scout.com. "No one like him on their roster. He can play right away without looking over his shoulder."

Davis took an official visit to Columbia the first time around. He also officially visited Rice in the fall, so he has three official visits left. He hasn't set any dates for those visits. Florida is the only school on the list that hasn't offered.

Davis had a terrific senior season and averaged 25 points and 14 rebounds per game.
