Houston Nabs Swingman

The Houston Cougars didn't have to stray too far for their latest commitment. Ray McCallum's club landed a Houston-area player who is going to really help them on the perimeter.

Hensley To Houston

Cedric Hensley, a 6-5 swingman from Cleveland (TX) Heritage Christian, gave Houston a commitment on Saturday.

"Cedric, kind of early in his mind, started weeding out a lot of schools and his parents loved the fact that U of H was close to them," Heritage Christian coach Jerome Tang said. "Our goal is for Cedric to be freshman of the year in Conference USA."

Hensley, according to Tang, also considered Baylor and Oklahoma while Tennessee was involved a little bit.

If you recall, this is the young man who scored 100 points last year in a game against Banss School. "He never talks about that. He'll never even bring it up," Tang said. "He had one game last year where he had eight dunks. Never talks about it."

In other Heritage Christian news, point guard Lamar Hurd is taking an unofficial visit to Rice Sept. 1. Hurd is considering Rice, SMU, Colorado State, Houston, Indiana State, Oral Roberts and Binghamton.

SF Tim Mayes has an official visit set for Vanderbilt on Oct. 12. He also likes UNC-Wilmington, Colorado State, SMU, Loyola Marymount and a few others.

Combo guard Jahfon Watson likes Binghamton, UT-Arlington, Georgia State and SF Austin.
