Davis' departure put DePaul in a big-time lurch, but the Blue Demons secured his replacement quickly. As reported by WeAreDePaul.com, Aaron Simpson committed to Oliver Purnell's program and will fill the void left by Davis.
Simpson hails from Chicago, signed with Illinois State out of high school and spent the past two years at Lincoln College (Ill.). He stands only 6-0, 165 pounds, but he built a strong reputation in the Windy City and had attracted several mid-major offers (and reportedly committed to Detroit at one point) while at Lincoln, prior to selecting DePaul.
Simpson performed very well for Lincoln as a sophomore and was voted first team all-conference. He averaged 23 points per game, good for No. 16 among all Division II juco scorers. He also shot an impressive 86 percent from the free throw line.
