Pipkins out to show skills

Point guard Luwane Pipkins had a strong start to his spring at the NY2LA Swish N Dish.

Point guard Luwane Pipkins began opening up eyes at Chiago (Ill) Bogan during the high school season, and then over the weekend at the NY2LA Swish N Dish, he did the same thing. The now 5-foot-10 point guard put on an impressive shooting display along with being a very tough defender.

"That's all I have been working on, my shooting," explained Pipkins. "All I have been doing is shooting, and I have been trying to show that out here with my AAU team."

During the high school Pipkins led Bogan to a strong season, and he feels it went well for him and the team.

"My school year went very well. I am progressing a lot playing the one, and now I just have to bring it to AAU," said Pipkins.

Recruiting wise things are just starting to pick up for Pipkins who has significant regional interest.

"I have really been hearing from UMass, Bradley, Creighton, Loyola, Wisconsin Green Bay, and Indiana State," said Pipkins. "Those are the ones that have been on me really hard right now."

The Creighton Bluejays had an excellent season behind big time three point shooting, and that is something that Pipkins took note of.

"I like the way they play and how they have freedom to shoot," said Pipkins of Creighton. "They have been staying in contact with me and my family and showing me a lot of attention."

For now Pipkins is in no hurry to make a college decision, but he does have a good idea of what he is looking for in a school.

"I look for a school that fits me and where I can play a lot and where I can bring my toughness," said Pipkins.
