Sprewell picks WKU

Western Kentucky added another pledge to their 2014 recruiting class. Ayinde Sprewell committed Monday afternoon.

Ray Harper and Western Kentucky added their sixth commitment of the 2014 class on Monday.

Ayinde Sprewell, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard out of Daytona State College, gave a verbal pledge to Harper and his staff, according to a source close to the situation. Sprewell will have two years of eligibility for Western Kentucky.

Sprewell picked WKU over Rhode Island. He also held scholarship offers from UNC-Wilmington, Troy and Illinois State.

During Sprewell's sophomore season he averaged 15.1 points and eight rebounds a game. Sprewell is originally from Milwaukee (Wisc.).

Sprewell joins an impressive recruiting haul that includes four three-star prospects – Derrick Clayton, Jordan Green, Avery Patterson and Justin Johnson. Rob Marberry also plans to walk on for the Hilltoppers.

Sprewell, Clayton, Green and Patterson will give WKU some firepower on the perimeter, as all four have reputations as scorers. Johnson is a 6-foot-6 bruising power forward that is known for his energy and rebounding.
