Recruiting progressing well for Edwards

Hyron Edwards is continuing to get significant high-major interest.

Four-star point guard Hyron Edwards has been a highly sought after target since his freshman year at East Chicago (Ind.) Central. The 6-foot-1 Edwards is as good an athlete as you will see at the point guard position, and now he is looking to continue to refine his game.

"I think the season went well, but I think we could have gone further in the state tournament," said Edwards of the high school year.

During the season Edwards showed an improved jumper to go along with his playmaking in transition, and overall he feels things went well for him as a junior.

"I think I did pretty good this season," said Edwards. "I improved as a shooter and then also I got my teammates involved."

Recruiting wise things are continuing to move along well for Edwards.

"Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Purdue, Indiana, and Illinois have all been talking to me," said Edwards.

Purdue has been with Edwards from the very beginning, and he says that Head Coach Matt Painter remains in close contact.

"Things stand good with Purdue," explained Edwards. "Coach Painter has been texting and calling me, and I think my family would like me to stay close to home, so that could be good."

Also Illinois is in the mix and will be out to monitor his progress during the spring and summer.

"I still talk to Illinois, and they say they will be watching me this spring and they are interested in bringing in a point guard in my class," explained Edwards.

At the moment do not expect any kind of quick decision. Edwards says that he wants to wait things out and see his final options.

"I am going to take my visits after the summer and then I will make my decision," noted Edwards.
