Austin is granted release

Point guard Larry Austin has been granted his release from the University of Tennessee.

One of the key pieces to Tennessee's class of 2014 was point guard Larry Austin. The 6-foot-1 floor general pledged to Head Coach Cuonzo Martin before he departed to California, and now he has decided to re-open his recruitment.

"Larry received his full release and has re-opened his recruitment," said Austin's father Larry Sr.

The three-star prospect instantly becomes one of the best players left on the market, especially at the point guard position. Austin is known as a high level athlete who has a solid feel for the game and can really get to the rim.

At this point Austin Sr. didn't indicate any specific schools that Austin will take a look at, but the first time around programs such as Kansas State, Illinois, Creighton, DePaul, Oklahoma State, and Vanderbilt were all involved with his recruitment.

Austin is also a terrific student to go along with being a good basketball player, so he should have plenty of options going forward.

Currently Austin is seen as the No. 29 point guard in the 2014 class.
