Schools starting to set up visits with Owens

Schools are starting to prioritize Tariq Owens, an available 2014 recruit. He has a list of schools and will take visits soon.

Now that Tariq Owens has a release from his Letter of Intent at Ohio, the 6-foot-9 versatile forward is looking to set up unofficial and official visits.

According to Owens' father -- Renard Owens – he'll begin the process soon.

"I'm going to be careful and selective this time around, learning the dynamics of recruiting," Owens said. "I have worked on a schedule based on coaches that have recruited my son prior to committing to Ohio, as well as present."

Owens said his first official would be to Seton Hall.

"Seton Hall will be one of the first, largely due to the incoming class, and direction they are going in terms of building," he said. "That will be an official."

Owens also said his son would like to visit Tennessee, Dayton and Washington.

"Tennessee Coach [Donnie] Tyndall has been consistently calling and he had much to do with Kenneth Faried, who style is similar to my son," Owens said.

"Dayton could be ideal," he added. "I loved the way they played and followed them throughout NCAA."

"Washington coach [Raphael] Chillious wanted my son while at Villanova and has been in contact consistently," Owen said.

According to Owens, Marquette is showing strong interest, as is Temple, who will likely receive an unofficial visit. He also said UT-Martin will be involved due to Heath Schroyer, who recruited his son in the past.

Owen is a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 21 power forward in the 2014 class.
