Battle brewing for Huell

Power forward Dewan Huell is having a very good spring, and college coaches are looking closely at his recruitment.

Power forward Dewan Huell had a very strong sophomore season, and now is looking to continue his improvement with Team Breakdown on the AAU circuit. The class of 2016 prospect has big time upside, and is just beginning to figure things out.

At 6-foot-9 and 205 pounds, Huell has good size and solid athleticism. He also runs the floor well, and feels he is making strides with his game.

"I am just trying to show people that I am one of the top players in my class and that I have gotten better," said Huell.

He continued, "I have been in the weight room trying to get stronger mostly."

Recruiting wise Huell has significant interest from schools in his region, and was monitored closely all weekend long at the Pitt Jam Fest.

"I am hearing from Miami, Florida, Florida State, Kansas, Louisville, South Carolina and Ole Miss are the main ones, but there are a few other schools," said Huell.

Huell lives close to the Miami campus, and says he is fond of what the coaching staff is doing there and the program in general.

"I like that it is close to home," said Huell of Miami. "All my family is in the area and could watch me play."

Also the Florida Gators are in the mix, and Huell likes hearing from them.

"They have just been saying that they like me and that they are going to be watching me play this summer," said Huell.

For now Huell says that he isn't focused on the recruiting process, but when the time comes he knows what he will be looking for in a school.

"I am just looking for a good program and a place that will win," said Huell.

Currently Huell is viewed as the No. 10 power forward in the class of 2016.
