Grandstaff gives OSU major scoring threat

Ohio State added a third pledge to their 2015 recruiting class. Austin Grandstaff, one of the nation's best scorers, committed while on a visit.

When Austin Grandstaff backed off his pledge to Oklahoma State in early February he jumped right back into the recruiting process.

High majors rolled into Rockwall (Tex.) High and they all seemed to be offering. For some time, Grandstaff, a 6-foot-5 guard, appeared to be favoring Florida and even took an unofficial visit to Gainesville in early March.

But the Gators took a commitment from a 2015 wing on Wednesday and that likely made Grandstaff's college choice a little easier. On Sunday, during a visit to Ohio State, Grandstaff committed to Thad Matta and his staff.

Grandstaff tweeted confirmation of the news.

A significant pick up for the Buckeyes, Grandstaff will help them in the scoring department, as he's one of the best shooters and scorers in the 2015 class.

Grandstaff has deep range on his jump shot, but he's also skilled enough to go off the dribble for mid-range pull-ups or drives to the rim. Through one EYBL session this spring, Grandstaff has put up 82 points, which is good for 20.5 points a game.

Grandstaff is currently ranked No. 47 overall and No. 12 at the shooting guard position.

Ohio State now has three pledges in the 2014 recruiting class. Grandstaff joins four-star recruits Mickey Mitchell and A.J. Harris to make up their current class.
