Aflakpui showing improvement

Three-star big man Ernest Aflakpui has himself firmly on the high-major radar with a solid high school showing and a very good spring.

There isn't a ton of depth with quality post prospects in the class of 2015, but one who is standing out is Ernest Aflakpui. The 6-foot-9 center from Radnor (Penn) Archbishop Carroll is running with We R 1 this summer on the AAU circuit, and he has been making a lot of improvements to his game.

Aflakpui is a post prospect who combines good hands, a strong motor, and good athleticism. That was all on display at the Pitt Jam Fest, and it is clear he is getting better rapidly.

"My high school year went great," said Aflakpui. "We did well as a team, but I think we did pretty well. I think individually I got a lot better. I am improving on everything and my coaches have been helping me out on my post moves and also on my defense."

Recruiting wise he already has numerous offers, with a few other schools showing him significant interest.

"I have offers from Temple, St. Joe's, La Salle, Drexel, and San Diego State," said Aflakpui. "VCU, Georgia Tech, Providence, and Penn State are also interested."

At this point Aflakpui isn't too far along in the recruiting process. He says that he doesn't have any specific official visit plans, and is simply trying to gain as much information about the process as he can before cutting down his list and picking a school.

For now though he does have a decent idea of what he is looking for in a program, and how what will be important to him in order to select a school.

"I am looking for a school that can develop me as a person and a student and also somewhere where I can fit on basketball wise that will help me get better as a player," explained Aflakpui.

For now Aflakpui is rated as a three-star prospect and as the No. 20 center in the class of 2015.
