Right as Funderburk's sophomore season was beginning to take off he was sidelined with a foot injury. That set him back a little bit, but now Funderburk is back on the court on the AAU circuit with the King James Shooting Stars, and he is looking to keep improving.
"This spring I am really trying to show my athleticism is back," said Funderburk. "I am just trying to improve and keep getting better."
Recruiting wise Funderburk is now picking up offers, and has some top schools after him.
The offer from Ohio State came in January after an impressive showing during the high school season, and for Funderburk that was big.
"I wasn't expecting an offer from Ohio State so that was real good to get that," explained Funderburk. "I got the offer right before Ohio State and Penn State played and that was real cool."
His first major offer came from Xavier, and Funderburk says the Musketeers have been showing him a lot of interest.
"I like Xavier a lot," explained Funderburk. "They look out for their players, and I think they have a real good program and they have been recruiting me real hard."
For now Funderburk is just taking everything slowly and wants to accumulate as much information about each school recruiting him as possible before making some visits.
Currently Funderburk is ranked as the No. 29 prospect in the 2016 class and the No. 5 center.
