Pipkins makes pledge

Three-star combo guard Luwane Pipkins made his college decision on Tuesday night and he is headed to the Atlantic 10.

Chicago (Ill) Bogan standout Luwane Pipkins has been tremendous this spring for the Mac Irvin Fire. He has shown his supreme ability to shoot the basketball, and that led to a lot of college attention.

With Big Ten schools beginning to pick up the interest, the 5-foot-9 Pipkins decided to end his recruitment before it even really got going. On Tuesday night Pipkins selected Massachusetts.

"I felt it was perfect for me," said Pipkins of UMass. "I watchem them play and I saw the way my position was being utilized."

According to Pipkins the way Chaz Williams was used the past two years was huge in his decision.

"I loved the way Coach Kellogg let Chaz play and every time I talk to Coach Kellogg or Coach (Marlon) Williamson they made me feel like family."

This is the first pledge for UMass in the 2015 class, and it is an important one.
