Swanigan racks up offers

Caleb Swanigan is showing why he is one of the elite prospects in the class of 2016.

A five-star prospect who comes in at No. 13 overall in the class of 2016, Caleb Swanigan is showing his elite potential. The Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Homestead talent is off to an excellent start this spring with Spiece Indy Heat, and colleges are definitely taking notice.

At roughly 6-foot-9 and 245 pounds, Swanigan has done a tremendous job of working his way into very good shape, and he feels that is helping him on the court quite a bit.

"The spring is going great for our team," said Swanigan. "We have been playing pretty well and we are coming together well."

He continued, "I have gotten in way better shape since the high school year. I have been playing better and improving and just working on my game."

After a dominant showing in Sacramento during the April open evaluation period numerous offers came Swanigan's way, and now he has a long list of schools.

So far that list includes Michigan State, Indiana, Illinois, Penn State, Florida State, Iowa, Louisville, UCLA, Marquette, Notre Dame, Alabama, and New Mexico.

Michigan State is a school that Swanigan has seen multiple times on visits, and likes quite a bit.

"I like Michigan State," said Swanigan. "They have had some good big men, and they develop guys. You look at Adreian Payne, from his freshman year to his junior and senior year he got a lot better. Also I like the coaching staff a lot."

Indiana is another school that has been involved with Swanigan for a while, and he likes the Hoosiers.

"Indiana is an in-state school that is close so I am getting real familiar with coaches and I like what they are doing with the program," said Swanigan.

Just recently throwing out an offer was Louisville, and the Cardinals made an impression.

"I like Louisville," said Swanigan. "Coach (Kenny) Johnson was talking to me a little bit when he was at Indiana, and they have a good history of developing post players and Coach (Rick) Pitino is one of the best coaches around."

For now Swanigan is continuing to focus on getting into the best shape of his life while setting the goal of winning the Peach Jam in July.
