Four recruiting Hemsley the hardest

Jeremy Hemsley is making progress in his recruitment, as he's starting to take more visits and has a feel for which schools are showing him the most interest.

One of the top shooting guards out west in 2015, there is no shortage of attention in 6-foot-3, 175-pound La Verne (Calif.) Damien's Jeremy Hemsley.'s 54th ranked prospect in his class, the aggressive scorer feels he's added to his game this spring.

"I think my spring has gone well; I've progressed a lot since last summer," Hemsley said. "My jump shot is getting a lot better."

Hemsley identified Washington, San Diego State, Arizona State and Colorado as the schools recruiting him the hardest and broke down what he likes about all of them.

Washington: "I just visited there and it was really nice. I liked the campus; it was a real nice campus. I like the coaches there. I'm starting to know coach (Lorenzo) Romar a little better and I like their coaching staff. I got to meet some of their players too."

San Diego State: "I've talked to all of their coaches. I went to a home game when they played New Mexico and it was a real loud game. I haven't taken another visit down there but I plan to; I'm just not sure when. I also like their coaching staff. Coach (Steve) Fisher is pretty cool."

Arizona State: "I like the way they play; I think they play faster than anyone recruiting me and they emphasize that a lot. When we did their home visit with me, they really pushed on that. I went there with my high school team for a team tournament and saw everything. I'll probably visit Arizona State soon."

Colorado: "Like the other schools they came in and did an in-home visit with me. I like how it's a different atmosphere out there. I like the air and elevation."

In addition to those schools, there are two programs beginning to show Hemsley more interest.

"California and Memphis have started to recruit me but I'm still getting to know them," he said.

In a perfect world, Hemsley will be able to make a decision sooner than later.

"I hope to make it soon," he said. "I'm starting to narrow it down and I hope to make a final decision soon. Sometime before my senior season starts hopefully. I might take some officials but I don't want to take all of them."

As Hemsley continues through the process, he knows what will be important to him in a school.

"I'll be looking at the type of people at that school; I want to go to a family type atmosphere," Hemsley said. "I'm willing to go anywhere. Location doesn't really matter."
