Interest rising in Alston

His game is on the rise, and the recruitment of Levan Alston is really heating up.

Three-star prospect Levan Alston is someone who is definitely on the rise this spring. Running with Team Final on the Nike EYBL circuit, Alston has proved himself to be one of the better combo guards on the East Coast, and that is leading to significant recruiting attention.

"I think I have been playing well and we are playing well as a team," said Alston. "My recruitment has started to blow up the last couple of weeks."

Recruiting wise, that interest is really picking up from high-major schools.

"I am talking to VCU a lot, Temple, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, all of the Philadelphia schools, Wichita State and a few others," said Alston.

He continued, "I visited VCU last week, and I plan to visit Notre Dame soon."

According to Alston the trip to VCU was a good one, and he liked what he saw from Shaka Smart and the staff there.

"It was a fun trip," said Alston. "The coaching staff is like a family and Shaka Smart is a great coach. I really liked the trip there."

While the official date hasn't been finalized, Alston is looking forward to getting to Notre Dame and seeing what the ACC school has to offer.

"I like Coach (Mike) Brey," said Alston. "He says he likes guards who are versatile and can play both positions, and if I went there I would have that opportunity."

At this point in time there is no specific timetable in place for a decision from Alston, but he does have a pretty good idea of what he is looking for in a school.

"I look for a school that is like a family and a place with a great coaching staff and great academics," noted Alston.
