SG Tevin Mack Profile
A rising senior at Dreher High School in Columbia, Mack is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 21 shooting guard in the class of 2015. He's also the No. 77 overall prospect in the country.
Assistant coach Earl Grant runs the point on his recruitment to Clemson.
"Coach Grant, we've been in contact for about two years now, since my ninth grade year we've been in contact. He really couldn't make a move on me yet, because I was still kind of young, so I had to wait a little bit until I got older and they wanted to watch me play more. Then, they watched me play in Pittsburgh in the spring," Mack told CUTigers.
The 6-4, 185-pound prospect visited Clemson his mom, brother and coach.
"I got a chance to check out Vickery Hall, checked out the arena a little bit, the weight room, I met the strength coach, we walked around campus a little bit, checked out the coaches' office and watched some film on K.J. McDaniels and how they use their wings to score," Mack said.
The Clemson staff hopes Mack decides to come to Clemson to work along the wings like McDaniels did during his three seasons in Tigertown.
"Coach [Brad] Brownell, he was talking to me a lot about how I could come in, earn my spot and possibly be like K.J. McDaniels, possibly, if I work hard like he did and keep developing and things like that," Mack said. "I could come in and do some of the stuff he did. That's kind of the comparison they look at me as."
Clemson joined Auburn, ECU, Georgia, Mississippi State, VCU and Wake Forest on Mack's offer sheet.
"That's really important to me because that's my first instate offer. That's my first offer from a school that's in the state and that's pretty important to me," he said.
Up next are summer trips to Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and ECU.
"Everything is the same right now. I'm still kind of weighing my options right now and seeing what is the best fit for me," he said. "I don't have any favorites or anything like that."
A decision will be reached before the end of the year, December at the latest.
As a junior at Dreher, Mack averaged 24 points, seven rebounds and a blocked shot.
