The recruiting process for 2015 four-star small forward Cameron Walker is winding down, with the Santa Maria (Calif.) Righetti prospect narrowing his list to a top 8 last week.
"I'm down to Arizona State, California, Colorado, Florida, Harvard, San Diego State, Stanford, and UCLA," Walker said. "They're pretty much all recruiting me the same amount. Pretty much all of theme except Florida and Harvard are recruiting me the hardest."
Walker, who was in Long Beach this weekend for the Pangos All-American Camp, says that the Bruins have stood out to him,.
"I definitely like them a lot," Walker said. "Growing up as a kid, I always watched them, especially given how successful the program has had."
Walker has attempted to add some versatility to his game this AAU season, playing a little more point and shooting guard during April and May, and schools have started to notice.
"Most schools see me pretty much as a three," Walker said. "But some have also said if I can get the rebound, I can bring the ball up and be a one or a two."
Walker said playing some point this spring has helped him to expand his game.
"I think I've grown from it," the 6'7, 200-pound Walker said. "In Indiana and Orlando, with the Compton Magic, I had to play some one with Sedrick (Barefield) out of the game. I think it's helping me improve that part of my game."
As far as his future plans, Walker said that he'll likely try to narrow down his list again after the summer AAU season is over.
"After the July period, after basketball mellows down, I'll take five official visits," Walker said. "I'm not sure where they'll be yet, but that'll pretty much be my top five."
