Pardon pledges to Northwestern on visit
During a visit to Northwestern on Saturday, Dererk Pardon, a 2015 recruit out of Cleveland (Ohio) Villa Angela-St. Josesph, committed to Chris Collins and Northwestern. Pardon confirmed the commitment news to Scout.com. "I felt like it a was a great fit," Pardon said. "I talked to the coaching staff. I loved them. I like the player they are bringing int. It was just a great fit for me." Pardon, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward, said he also considered Xavier and Pittsburgh. Pardon had previously visited Northwestern, but the visit Saturday sealed up his decision. "When I came down the first time, I was iffy about it," Pardon said. "But I had a good idea this time. It really closed the deal." Collins played a factor in the decision making, as did Northwestern assistant Brian James, who was the point-man on the Pardon recruitment. "Over the past couple months, I've grown very close to them," Pardon said. "They really stayed on me and everything. That was a good relationship. That was another factor in me committing to them." A three-star prospect, Pardon averaged 14 points a game as a junior. Pardon is the second 2015 prospect to commit to Northwestern. He joins Illinois native Jordan Ash to make up their current recruiting class.
