Giddens closing in on decision

One of the top centers in the country knows when he will select a school.

Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler standout Daniel Giddens is one of the top centers in the class of 2015. The four-star prospect can run the floor, block shots, and rebound at a very high level, and now he is entering the home stretch of his recruitment.

At 6-foot-10 with high level athleticism and a good motor, Giddens has had a very solid spring running with Each 1 Teach 1 in the Nike EYBL.

"It has been a real good spring and I think I am getting better day by day," said Giddens. "We have a good coaching staff and I have great teammates, so it has been fun."

He continued, "I have been working on blocking shots and also being more explosive. Also I have been working on my offensive game with my post moves."

Recruiting wise Giddens lists Ohio State, Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Indiana, and Kansas as his finalists with offers coming from more than 20 other schools.

Now Giddens plans to announce his decision on July 4, which also happens to be his birthday.

Giddens made a visit to Ohio State during the season, and he says that he stays in close contact with the Buckeye coaching staff.

"I still talk to Ohio State every week," said Giddens. "I talk with Coach (Thad) Matta and Coach (Dave) Dickerson all the time, and I have a good relationship with them."

Also Giddens is very familiar with the Florida staff, and says he remains in constant contact with them as well.

"I talk with Coach (John) Pelphrey and Coach (Matt) McCall once a week, and I have a good relationship with them as well," explained Giddens.

With a decision coming up soon, Giddens knows what he will be looking for in a school.

"I am definitely looking for academics, a place I can thrive at, and also a place where basketball wise I would fit in with the players and the coaches," noted Giddens.
