2016 Intro: Tyler Bey

Tyley Bey is an emerging forward from Las Vegas. Here's an intro to his game and recruitment.

One of the bigger sleepers out west in 2016 is 6-foot-6, 190-pound Las Vegas power forward Tyler Bey.

An athletic four man with a terrific frame with long arms, Bey is undersized for the position but generally plays hard and uses his motor and athleticism to crash the offensive glass and score on putbacks while grabbing defensive boards and playing solid defense on the other end.

Bey's skill set is still a work in progress, but his physical tools give him the chance to be a good player.

The rising junior feels he's had a good spring after not playing up to his standards this last year in high school.

"I played alright but I could have been better," Bey said of his sophomore year. "I'm happy how I'm playing this spring. I'm helping my team by rebounding and playing hard on defense. I need to keep working on everything."

Offers have come in from SMU and NAU, with interest from UCLA, Gonzaga, Utah State and San Francisco.

Being a Las Vegas kid, it's no surprise who he grew up rooting for.

"I grew up a UNLV fan," Bey said. "That's my city."

There's a long way to go before Bey takes his recruitment seriously, but location could play a factor.

"I'm not sure what I'll be looking for yet - I'm working on my game right now - but I know I would like to stay close to home," he said.
