At the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp, Evans has clearly been one of the best players at his position, and overall he has been happy with his play.
"It is going pretty well," said Evans. "This is a good start to my summer to be at this camp, and I feel I have done pretty well."
He continued, "My game has come along well. There is a lot of competition to show you where you are at, and I feel I have proven my skills."
When it comes to the next step, Evans said, "Right now I am just talking to schools and trying to get a couple of visits scheduled. I want to visit Illinois, USC, Virginia Tech, and Tennessee for sure."
A native of South Carolina, Clemson has been recruiting Evans the longest, and he says he is a fan of the program.
"Clemson, we have had a great relationship since ninth grade," explained Evans. "Everything is great with them and they have been there with me from the beginning."
One of the schools on Evans the hardest has been Illinois, and he says his relationship with the staff there is very strong.
"Me and Illinois have a great relationship," noted Evans. "I have a great relationship with Coach (John) Groce and Coach Walker. They have been telling me how great of a program they have and how great I would fit in there. We really talk a lot."
The new staff at Tennessee has also made an impression on Evans, and he is excited to potentially make a visit there.
"They are really after me," Evans said of the Volunteers. "They have a great staff, they tell you what is going on from beginning to end, and I think I would fit in there."
When it comes to USC, the Trojans have location and relationships going in their favor.
"I like USC a lot," said Evans. "It is in California, and I love California. Also the coaching staff is great, they have a young coaching staff and they like to get out and run."
At the moment Evans isn't positive on a specific timeline for a commitment, but he does know what will put one school over the top for his pledge.
"Style of play, a great coaching staff with a lot of energy, and a place where I know I will have freedom to make plays are what is important to me," explained Evans.
