Butts backs off Rutgers pledge

Leroy Butts, a three-star recruit out of Maryland, backed off his pledge to Rutgers on Monday.

LeRoy Butts is back on the market.

Butts, who is transferring to Delray Beach (Fla.) Elev-8 Prep for his senior season, backed off his pledge to Rutgers on Monday.

"I want to see what other schools I can get," Butts told Scout.com when asked about the decommitment.

"I just want to look at other schools that's all," he added. "Basically I have a good relationship with Eddie [Jordan]. I talked to him yesterday about it. He said regardless if I come to Rutgers he'll still love me and he still wants me and I'd always have a place at Rutgers."

Prior to committing to Rutgers, Butts had considered Cincinnati, Miami, DePaul, WVU, Tennessee and Georgetown.

As a junior at Upper Marlboro (Md.) Clinton Christian, Butts, a three-star power forward, said he averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds a game.
