Breakout Takeout: Crosby emerges as 2015 PG

PHILADELPHIA -- John Crosby opted for a post-graduate year instead of going to college this upcoming season. Who has reached out to the talented point guard?

John Crosby had the opportunity of going to college in the 2014 class, but his options were limited. So the 6-foot-2 wiry lead guard decided to spend a post-graduate year at New Hampton (N.H.) Prep.

“The recruiting process, I wanted to go through it a whole year,” Crosby told after his first camp game at the Reebok Breakout Classic.

“I was really only recruited by George Mason,” he added. “I didn’t get a taste of the recruiting life. Before I make a decision about my next four years I want to go to a place that I picked, not where I had to go.”

Since announcing his intentions to reclassify, Crosby has received calls and interest from Tennessee, Providence, SMU, Western Kentucky, Old Dominion, Rhode Island and Rutgers. Rutgers, Old Dominion and Western Kentucky have offered.

The only visit Crosby has taken recently was to Rutgers in May.

At the Reebok Breakout Classic, Crosby displayed good speed, a crafty handle and the ability to make plays for his teammates. He tossed out five assists in his first game of the event.

“I feel the game well,” Crosby said when asked to describe his game. “Sometimes I come out and score a lot and sometimes I come out and pass a lot. I’ve played on a lot of teams and I’m experienced now. I can take over a game or I can sit back.”

Crosby will finish out the July period at the Reebok events, then will head to the Under Armour Finals in Atlanta during the second session and to Las Vegas with Team Melo during the third period.
