Major offers coming in for Mitchell

Big time offers are coming in for Donovan Mitchell who stood out at the Reebok Breakout Camp.

Four-star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell was arguably the top overall performer at the Reebok Breakout Camp. The Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster Academy product showed off his tremendous athleticism and improved skill level and racked up new offers.

“I never thought I would be at a national camp because I was unknown before this year,” said Mitchell. “Just to be out there was amazing.”

He continued, “I feel like all of my hard work is paying off. I was hurt and didn’t get to play too much before I got to Brewster, and now finally everything has come full circle.”

Recruiting wise Mitchell has been on the high-major radar since the fall, but now new major offers are coming his way.

“I have gotten offers from Louisville, Memphis, and South Florida this week,” said Mitchell. “Also I have Florida State, Boston College, and Indiana who offered recently.”

Louisville was a big offer for Mitchell and it came after Rick Pitino saw him play in Philadelphia.

“Growing up I knew a lot about Louisville,” said Mitchell. “I spoke with Coach (Kenny) Johnson when he was at Indiana, and now that Coach Pitino saw me play, they offered. That was great to get an offer from them.”

Also making a major move recently has been Boston College. Jim Christian was a fixture at his games, and the new BC boss is working hard to keep Mitchell in New England for college.

“They basically said the ball would be in my hands if I were to go there,” explained Mitchell of BC. “I would be able to play through mistakes there, and I think it would be a great overall fit for me.”

Also Indiana has made it clear to Mitchell that he is a priority recruit, and they have stayed in very close contact with him.

“I have actually been talking to them a lot recently,” said Mitchell. “They have been all over me, following me, texting me, calling me, and they have been showing a lot of interest.”

For now no visits are set up for Mitchell, but he does know that two schools will definitely get a trip in the not too distant future.

“I know 100 percent I will visit Louisville and Indiana, but I don’t know when exactly that will be,” said Mitchell.

Currently Mitchell is viewed as the No. 35 shooting guard in the nation.
