Ahmad plans on waiting it out
One of the breakout performers of the summer on the West Coast has been 6-foot-4, 190-pound Corona (Calif.) Centennial shooting guard Khalil Ahmad. After a somewhat quiet junior season, the 2015 prospect has showed what he's capable of this summer with his size, length, athleticism, slashing and vision for the position. Ahmad is pleased with the progress he's making in his game. "I'm getting more aggressive and my jumper is more consistent," Ahmad said. "I got my handle straight so I can get by people. I'm attacking the basket more, I'm shooting better and am more confident." The rising senior describes himself as a versatile wing. "I can hit jumpers, I can attack the basket and I think I play pretty good defense; I can get stops whenever it's needed," he said. "I need to work on my ball handling more so when I get pressured, I can keep it." So far, Tulsa is Ahmad's only offer, with interest coming from schools such as California, Colorado, U.C. Irvine, U.C. Riverside, Washington State and Long Beach State. Because he's late to being seriously recruited, Ahmad plans on waiting it out before making a decision. "I'll commit towards the end of my senior year," he said. Ahmad says location won't play a role in his decision. "It doesn't matter," Ahmad said. "If I like somewhere far, I'll go there."
