Milton taking his time

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Don't get angry with Shake Milton if he doesn't have too much to say about his recruitment at the moment; he's too busy focusing on the task at hand.

The past few months have brought attention and opportunity to Shake Milton's door in a way he may not have imagined likely. The unassuming Oklahoma native has performed very impressively both during live and non-live periods, and this week he's punctuating a travel season that has brought him to the precipice of a high-major future.

A fixture for MoKan Elite, Milton performs numerous essential tasks for his squad. In a victory over the New York Lightning on Friday morning, he made several key drives to stave off a comeback attempt while also steadying his teammates when they began to feel harassed by pressure. He's a very sure handler and passer for a wing with the height to pass over the top of many traps.

He's a pretty good jump shooter as well and a talented overall scorer despite being only slightly above-average in terms of athleticism. College coaches recognize a player when they see one, and Milton's head for the game impresses every bit as much as his skills. A slew of high-majors comprise his current list:

"I might be forgetting a couple, but (my list is) Baylor, Indiana, Kansas, Illinois, Wichita State, Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma," Milton said. "They're all offers other than Kansas."

Milton will play out this month, take stock of his offers at that time and then set up official trips. His ultimate decision will be a group affair.

"I'll talk to the MoKan coaches after the summer and figure out my visit schedule," he said. "I'm just taking my time."
