Pittsnogle Reaches Decision

Kevin Pittsnogle, a highly touted forward from West Virginia, ended his recruitment on Wednesday. Pittsnogle, a standout with the Pan Handle Players, is going to continue his career and will play collegiate basketball in the Big East Conference.

Pittsnogle Picks Mountaineers

Martinsburg (WV) High power forward Kevin Pittsnogle, a 6-9 prospect with a sweet jump shot to 3-point range is going to be a Mountaineer. Pittsnogle excelled this spring and summer for Buck Hoffmaster's Panhandle Players AAU program.

He selected the Mountaineers over Clemson and N.C. State which both offered scholarships. In doing so, he becomes the first recruit for Gale Catlett in the 2002 recruiting year. The Mountaineers actually offered Pittsnogle a scholarship in 2000 after he fared extremely well in a contest against Amare Stoudemire at the 2000 AAU Nationals.

Pittsnogle's strongest gift appears to be his jump shot, which he's crafted into a legitimate weapon to 3-point range. He also considered Clemson, NC State and Pittsburgh.

"If there's a kid his size in the country that can shoot it like him, I want to see him. The boy can shoot the basketball," Buck Hoffmaster, Pittsnogle's AAU coach said.
