Nixon To Play In The Big Ten

The Wisconsin Badgers received their first commitment of the year. In-state Ray Nixon, an athletic swingman, picked Wisconsin on Wednesday.

Ray Nixon To Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Badgers accepted a commitment from 6-6, 185 pound small forward Ray Nixon on Wednesday. Nixon played last year at Dominican High School.

"Yesterday was unbelievable," Nixon's mother told BCH. "I couldn't believe it. Everyone was so excited."

If you aren't familiar with Nixon's name, you will be in the future. He's a tremendous athlete who really attacks the rim. He played well at the 2001 Spiece Run and Slam with the Milwaukee Soldiers. He then switched teams to play with the Wisconsin Playground Warriors.

He's not like many of the recruits Wisconsin's had in years past. He's a big-time athlete who can really run and jump. His commitment, in our eyes, represents a bit of a departure from the Wisconsin teams of old and you will probably see the Badgers recruiting a lot more kids like him in the future.
