Watson Begins Visitation Process

CJ Watson, one of the top players on the west coast, has narrowed his list to seven schools. This weekend, he's making his first official visit and news around college basketball on Wednesday gave one program a shot in the arms in terms of its standing with him.

Watson Begins Visitation Process

CJ Watson, a 6-1, 160 pound point guard from Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman, is set to take his first official visit this coming weekend. Watson leaves Thursday for a trip to Tennessee. He also has a visit set up to Fresno State the weekend of Sept. 7.

Also on Watson's short list are Minnesota, UCLA, UNLV and Iowa State. He has in-home visits scheduled with UNLV (Sept. 9), Fresno (10), Minnesota (11) and Tennessee (13).

"I'm probably going to decide after the visits," Watson said. "The amount of playing time I can get and how comfortable I feel with the school matter."

On Wednesday, Fresno State announced that point guard Tito Maddox would not be with the team this year. That announcement could help the Bulldogs in a big way. "I like them a lot," Watson said. "I like Jerry Tarkanian and I know that they have an open guard position and that makes it more interesting for me."

On the same note, UNLV recently received a commitment from guard Demetrius Hunter and that commitment could impact Watson's thinking when it comes to the Rebels.

Watson has family in Tennessee, thus the connection to the Volunteers.
