Indiana among final 10 for Donovan Mitchell

2015 guard Donovan Mitchell, the fastest-rising guard in the country, cut his list to 10 on Thursday, and Indiana made the cut.

Donovan Mitchell, the fastest-rising guard in the nation after his outstanding month of July, cut his list to 10 schools on Thursday. Indiana was among them.

The others: Creighton, Florida State, Providence, Georgetown, Villanova, Louisville, Kansas, Boston College and North Carolina.

Mitchell will visit Villanova on Aug. 4 and Louisville on Aug. 7 and 8. Both of those visits will be unofficial.

“As soon as they offered they were talking about me coming to visit,” Mitchell told Scout's Evan Daniels of Villanova. “My mom realized that Philly was only two hours away so we wanted to do that. They talked to me about being an impact guy and a key guy to their team and a guy that could give solid minutes. That’s very appealing to me.”

“They have just been so persistent,” Mitchell said of Louisville. “They always tell me, like Villanova, that I could be one of their impact guys right away. They are losing a bunch of guys this season and next season. I would have a chance to start and be a leader on their team. Hopefully if I were to go there I’d be able to showcase my game and do it on national schedule.”

Mitchell also wants to set visit dates for both Florida State and Indiana soon, according to Daniels. Mitchell said he will visit Indiana in August or September.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-3 guard from New Hampshire, was unranked by entering July, but he figures to be a lock for the top 50 when the new rankings are released. He was dominant in July.

In a poll of college coaches, Mitchell finished in the top two for both best competitor and most underrated player.

We will have more on Mitchell later.
