Frayer chooses Cal
California hasn't yet landed a 2015 recruit, but it's on the board in a big way in 2016. On Monday night the Golden Bears picked up a commitment from 6-foot-6, 175-pound Hayward (Calif.) Moreau Catholic small forward Oscar Frayer, Scout.com's 45th ranked prospect in the class. An athletic wing with a terrific frame that has a very high upside, Frayer is one of the top prospects out west in 2016 and is a big commitment for new head coach Cuonzo Martin and staff. "It's just my dream school," Frayer said. "Cuonzo Martin is a great coach and is going to help me get to the next level." Frayer is fresh off an unofficial visit to Cal that cemented his college decision. "I visited Cal on Sunday and everyone there is great," he said. "Those guys are all on board. They're a family; they have a bond that can't be broken. I want to be a part of that." When Frayer gets to Cal, he feels like what he has to offer will only be improved by the Bears coaching staff. "I bring athleticism and the will to win," said Frayer. "I feel like coach Martin can help me be a better player on and off the court." Frayer said that he's going to immediately get to work recruiting some of his Oakland Soldiers teammates, such as Carlos Johnson and Jordan Ford, to the Bears. "I definitely want them to come with me," he said.
