Visits underway for Ahmad
Four-star power forward Esa Ahmad completed an excellent summer with All-Ohio with a standout July. Upon returning home, Ahmad has set out to finish up the process of selecting a school, and that means making visits. The first trip for the Shaker Heights (Ohio) standout was down the road two hours to Ohio State. Ahmad had been to OSU before, but his dad, Ibby Ahmad, says this visit was very enlightening. “It was a great visit man, a great visit,” explained Ahmad. “They were just showing us a practice and how Esa would fit in with the offense that they run. Esa is seen as more of a point forward who can facilitate. It was a good visit, they are all first class down there.” Up next for Ahmad seems to be another pair of visits, both to schools Ahmad is familiar with. “Now we are going visit a few more schools, probably get to Wisconsin and Cincinnati,” said Ahmad. “Not next weekend, but during the week or something before Esa’s school starts. I know Esa has said in August he will choose a school, but it is likely going to be in September. There is just too much to do before he makes a decision.” Ibby Ahmad continued, “We haven’t been to Wisconsin yet. We just want to go up and see the campus. Obviously Coach (Bo) Ryan has a great system, and Esa has a buddy up there in Nigel Hayes, and I just want him to check it out and do our due diligence.” Two other schools that definitely will be in line for official visits are also very familiar to Ahmad. “We are going to visit both West Virginia and Maryland again, it will probably be an official visit to both of them,” said Ahmad. While on these visits Ahmad and his father are working to gather as much information as possible to make a well informed decision. The elder Ahmad says they already know what they are looking for in a prospective school. “We are looking for where he can play and how he is going to be used in those systems,” said Ahmad. “Then of course his goal is to make money playing basketball, that is every kid’s dream so that will be a factor as well.”
