Battle is enjoying process
Five-star wing Tyus Battle had as good a July as nearly any prospect in the 2016 class. Not only did Battle perform well with Team Scan during the AAU season, but also he was extremely impressive with USA Basketball. When it comes to his recruitment, Battle right now is just enjoying the process. After an inconsistent spring, Battle really stepped things up in the summer with his play, and says he is working on diversifying his game going forward. “I am trying to play the point guard a little bit more, and just learn how to come off of ball screens better,” explained Battle. “Overall I am just trying to make a bigger impact every time I am on the floor.” Recruiting wise numerous schools are really tracking Battle and making it known he is a priority recruit for them. “Kentucky, Duke, Michigan, Indiana, Louisville, Connecticut, Syracuse, there have been a lot of schools at my games,” said Battle. Kentucky is one school that has picked things up recently, and Battle is taking a close look. “They have offered and I talk to Coach Slice a lot,” said Battle. “He is a good guy who is easy guy to relate to. Coach Cal obviously is a great coach who has sent a lot of guys to the NBA, so I like the program.” One school that has been a fixture recruiting Battle for a while is Michigan. Battle thinks highly of the Wolverines. “I love the staff at Michigan,” said Battle. “They are really good guys, and the atmosphere there is incredible. They also have a really good offense.” Also Battle has spoken highly of Indiana, and likes what the Hoosiers bring to the table. “The community there is amazing so is the campus,” said Battle. “Coach (Tom) Crean works his guys hard and they get a lot better there as well.” In terms of how Battle and his family are approaching the process, right now they see no reason to hurry. “We haven’t talked about it too much yet, but I will narrow it down next year,” explained Battle. “I am just going to take my time with it.”
