The Weekend Visit Watch

This coming weekend marks the first weekend most prospects can make official visits, since classes are just beginning around the country. We haven't uncovered every official visit, but we do have a glimpse of some of the happenings around the nation.

Weekend Visits

Note: These dates were gathered over a period of time and are subject to change. It's the most accurate information we have about the coming weekend.

Duke: A charity basketball game with tons of former Duke players including Elton Brand highlights a big weekend for Shelden Williams in Durham. Will he leave the Duke campus without making a commitment or can the Devils lock him up? If we were in Las Vegas, the odds makers would probably say its 50-50 he commits. Head to the message board and place your bet.

Clemson: In what is likely going to be the first of a number of visits for the Memphis product, Larry Shyatt's Tigers get first crack at swingman Derrick Byars.

Xavier: The Musketeers are going to sign a point guard in the Class of 2002. This weekend, Dedrick Finn is on campus and you can expect Thad Matta to push for a commitment. If Finn doesn't commitment, Xavier has another point guard, Todd Galloway, set to begin an official visit Aug. 27.

Alabama: Again, we expect this to be the first in a series of visits for a prospect. Power forward Julian Terrell will be on campus.

Tennessee: Guard CJ Watson is going to take a fair share of recruiting trips and already has one planned for Fresno State, but it's Buzz Peterson who gets to set the standard with his first impression.

Illinois: The Illini are recruiting a number of forward prospects but Kyle Wilson will be the first to make a trip to Champaign. It's unlikely he commits because his Notre Dame trip is scheduled for the following week and the Irish are going to get their chance at him and could be the team to beat.
