Ali commits to UCLA
Prince Ali made his college choice on Saturday. The 6-foot-4 guard informed Scout.com that he will play his college basketball for Steve Alford at UCLA. “I think it’s the perfect fit,” Ali said of UCLA. “They’ve been recruiting me for a while. I’m very familiar with the coaching staff. I know what they want me to do when I get there and how they are going to play. I just feel more comfortable with them.” Ali also strongly considered Louisville and Georgia Tech. In the end, he felt like Steve Alford made him a priority and that helped seal up his commitment. “He made me a priority,” Ali said. “That stands out when a school makes you priority. Of all the shooting guards in the country, I was his number one priority.” “Coach Alford is a great person and he’s always been honest with me and he followed me all of July,” he added. “That’s when I knew I was priority when he followed me around all of July.” Ali had a visit set up to UCLA, but he opted to go ahead and pull the trigger. “I just thought that was the right place for me and that was the perfect school for me,” Ali said. “I just decided there was no need to waste everybody’s time if I knew where I wanted to go.” A four-star recruit, Ali is ranked No. 37 overall and No. 10 at the shooting guard position. Ali was one of the more improved prospects in the country this spring and summer. A known athlete, Ali improved his ball skills and shot making ability from long-range. Ali was one of the top scorers in the EYBL, as he averaged 21.8 points through 16 games. Ali connected on 20 of his 51 three-point attempts, which is good for 39.2-percent from three. UCLA now has a pair of top 50 commitments in their 2015 recruiting class. Ali joins four-star guard Aaron Holiday to make up their two-man class.
