Elite 24: High majors on Purifoy

NEW YORK -- Danjel Purifoy, a four-star wing in the 2015 class, told Scout.com at the Elite 24 practices that a handful of high major schools are pursuing him and one is starting to stick out.

Danjel Purifoy, a 6-foot-6 wing, impressed college coaches and scouts this summer with his toughness and physical play.

Playing for Winfred Jordan’s Atlanta Xpress squad, Purifoy attacked the basket, was aggressive with his drives, proved to be a strong finisher at the rim and showed potential as a perimeter defender and rebounder.

“I really just attack the basket and do whatever my coach tells me,” Purifoy said when asked to describe his game. “Going hard and playing 110-percent and get my teammates involved.”

Purifoy’s strong play this summer earned him a spot in Scout.com’s updated 2015 rankings. He now sits at No. 11 at the small forward position and No. 57 overall in the 2015 class.

Purifoy, how is participating in the Elite 24 festivities, told Scout.com following a two-hour practice session that Auburn, Alabama, UAB, Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia and Kentucky are recruiting him.

Does anyone stand out?

“Auburn,” Purifoy quickly responded.

“I had a visit during the summer on their campus,” he added. “It was a great visit. I liked it.”

Although Purifoy has yet to talk to Bruce Pearl, he said the assistants at Auburn have done a great job pursuing him.

“Coach Pearl, I haven’t gotten to talk to him yet, but the assistants, I’ve talked to all of them,” Purifoy said. “I went to the school and worked out there and I liked it.”

Purifoy said he didn’t have any visit dates set for the near future.
