Davis is a huge get for A&M

Landing Tyler Davis is huge for Texas A&M, now will it lead to more?

Ever since arriving in College Station as the Head Coach at Texas A&M, Billy Kennedy has been working to gain solid footing on the recruiting trail within the state of Texas. Now in the 2015 class, Kennedy might have found the pieces needed.

Back in 2012 it looked like Kennedy was going to be someone who got a lot done on the recruiting trail within one of the most fertile states for talent in the country. Kennedy landed a local four-star wing in Alex Caruso and then hired the father of J-Mychal Reese, John Reese, to help them land the four-star point guard.

While Caruso has had a solid career already, Reese never found his way and eventually was dismissed from the team, and his dad is no longer on staff either.

Combined with Reese not panning out, there has been other attrition and overall things just haven’t gone well for Kennedy early on in his tenure. The 2013 class was almost a complete miss for him in-state, and the wins haven’t come as expected on the court.

Things however could be changing in College Station. In the 2014 class Kennedy and his staff reeled in four-star point guard Alex Robinson, and now in the 2015 class post man Tyler Davis has pledged to the Aggies.

Davis is one of the best low block scorers in the class, and is also an excellent rebounder. He has great hands, wide shoulders, and at 6-foot-9 has proven himself against many of the other top bigs in the country.

Aside from that, Davis is extremely close friends with his high school and AAU teammate D.J. Hogg. Davis and Hogg were two of the guiding forces for the Texas Titans over the summer. This is the same Texas Titans program that produced Robinson who is already on campus in College Station.

Hogg plans to visit Texas A&M on September 6 in an official capacity, and you can bet Davis and Robinson will be working hard to try and bring him into the fold.

It remains to be seen if Hogg will join the Aggies program, but one thing is for sure, the addition of Davis definitely helps their cause.

If the Aggies can add Hogg to go with Davis, this class will easily be the best that Kennedy has landed, and will give him some big time pieces to build around as he attempts to get things going at Texas A&M.
