McBrayer commits to Minnesota

Dupree McBrayer, a four-star guard out of New York, made the call for Minnesota on Friday.

Richard Pitino tracked Dupree McBrayer throughout July.

On Friday, the work paid off, as McBrayer verbally committed to Pitino and his staff at Minnesota, according to a source.

McBrayer, a standout at Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick's School, also strongly considered St. John's, Manhattan, Seton Hall, Providence, Pittsburgh, Creighton and a host of others.

Minnesota assistant Kimani Young was the point man on McBrayer's recruitment.

A 6-foot-3 versatile and wiry guard, McBrayer is a terrific long-range shooter. He's also skilled, has an impressive feel for the game and is a very good passer.

Minnesota's backcourt now consists of a pair of four-star prospects. McBrayer joins top 100 recruit Kevin Dorsey to make up the Gophers' current two-man recruiting class.
