Elite 24: Ingram to focus on recruiting
Brandon Ingram is ready to get down to business. Recruiting was on the backburner during the July evaluation periods, but since then Ingram has turned his attention to looking for his future college. “This is kind of the month for me to cut down my list,” Ingram said. “I know I want to cut down my list by the end of this month and ultimately make a decision before my senior season.” “August and September I have a couple of in-home visits,” he added. “I’m going to talk with UCLA and talk to with Kansas and Kentucky and all. It’s going to be a good September. I only have a date with UCLA and that’s September 12th.” Ingram also plans to take a couple out of state visits. “Only visit I have set up is in October at the Late Night at the Phog,” Ingram said. “But I know I want to get out to Kentucky’s midnight madness.” When Ingram gets home from the Elite 24 festivities he may take trips to a pair of local schools as well. “I’m trying to get out to N.C. State when I get back home,” Ingram said. "When I get home I could stop by North Carolina again since it’s on the way home," Ingram said. "Then I’m going to stop by N.C. State." Ingram was recently on North Carolina’s campus for a brief unofficial visit. “It was pretty good,” Ingram said about UNC. “It was their first practice and it was very intense. I think it was one of the most intense practices, other than Duke’s. I don’t think anybody beats Duke’s intensity.” “We developed a good relationship over the two years that they have recruited me,” he added about Carolina. “It’s just very good getting out there. I’m very cool with the freshman that came in. On my visit I hung with Kennedy Meeks. He’s from Charlotte and we have a good relationship. It was really good.” Just prior to visiting to UNC, Ingram took an official visit to Duke. “The guys actually left after the first day,” Ingram said. “The day they were there it was really fun. We hung out a little bit and got back in the gym late night. We worked out a little bit. It was fun.” Ingram also recently stopped by UCLA for an unofficial visit. “I talk to (assistant coach) David Grace,” Ingram said. “I think we text almost every day. We are developing a good relationship. It’s been very good. I got out to UCLA after adidas Nations. It was very fun. They had all the NBA guys coming back. I saw Russell Westbrook work out.” “It just showed me more things that I can go to,” he added about UCLA. “I love the scenery out there.” Ingram said that the schools currently involved in his recruitment are UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, UCLA, Florida, Louisville, Kansas and Kentucky. With a list that consists of local schools and national powers, will location factor into his decision-making? “It doesn’t matter to me to stay home,” Ingram said. “I just want the right fit for me. I want something that stands out and is the right fit for me.”
