Minter Still Looking Around

One of the main cogs in the Charlotte Royals AAU machine says he's very much wide open. Donte Minter, a 6-7 forward from Mount Ulla (NC) West Rowan, is receiving a lot of interest from programs in his region.

Minter Says He's Open

At 6-7, 230, Donte Minter is a big target on the blocks and schools are taking note. The College of Charleston, Virginia Tech, East Carolina and Appalachian State are in the mix. He has an in-home visit scheduled with the College of Charleston for Sept. 10.

"Actually, I'm kind of wide open," Minter said. "I haven't narrowed it down any at all."

Minter's shining moment on the July scene was an early round game at the Peach Jam when he carried the Charlotte Royals to a win. Still a developing prospect, Minter is capable of scoring on the low blocks and is a good rebounder. "I enjoyed the summer a whole lot. It was a great summer for me to compete."

Minter says he's open regarding colleges and sounds like he means it. In fact, he says other schools could get involved. "There's a very good chance [someone else could come in]. If the right school comes along, I feel like I can play at any level. I just have to get a chance."

For now, Minter's going to take check out some campuses. "I want to take my visits and see how the campus is and how the players are treated." Last year, Minter averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds as a junior.
