Johnson commits to Minnesota

Minnesota now has four pledges in the 2015 class with the addition of three-star guard Jarvis Johnson.

Richard Pitino added another piece to the puzzle on Friday.

Jarvis Johnson, a local standout at Minneapolis (Minn.) De Le Salle, verbally committed to Pitino and his staff at a press conference at his high school.

Johnson took an official visit to Minnesota last week. Pitino also went in for an in-home visit this week as well. Johnson had narrowed his list of schools to five. It also included Baylor, Wisconsin, UNLV and Wichita State.

Johnson, a 6-foot-1 guard, gives the Gophers an outstanding perimeter class that also consists of Kevin Dorsey, a top 100 prospect, and talented shooter Dupree McBrayer. Jonathan Nwankwo, a 6-foot-9 big man, is also on board with the Gophers in 2015.

Minnesota’s recruiting class ranks among the top 20 classes in the country.
