Davis picks Texas

Texas is now on the board in their 2015 class with a very talented commitment.

The Texas Longhorns got very good news on Tuesday when four-star shooting guard Eric Davis decided to pick the school. Davis is one of the most talented scorers in the country, and now the Saginaw (Mich.) Arthur Hill standout will play for Rick Barnes in college.

At 6-foot-3 and 165 pounds, Davis is a versatile kid who can really score the basketball. Running with The Family on the AAU circuit, Davis proved himself against top competition showing he can score in a variety of different ways.

His ability to put the ball in the basket led to offers from NC State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, UNLV, LSU, and a host of others, but at the end of the day it was Texas that stood out the most to him.

“Eric has committed to Texas. He really enjoyed his visit down there and the whole situation was perfect for him," said Paul Carmona of Next Generation. "He has a chance to come in and play right away and also he trusts the coach and how they will develop him.”

Though Texas isn’t close to his native Michigan and wasn’t one of the first schools to enter the picture, Davis just felt it was the perfect spot for him.

“Texas is further away than some of the other schools recruiting him, but it still felt like home for Eric," said Carmona. "The players and coaches welcomed him like family on their visit, and that just made it the perfect situation”

This is the first commitment for Texas in the class of 2015. Davis is viewed as the No. 12 shooting guard and the No. 45 player overall.
