Coleman gives the latest

Jalen Coleman is a premier shooter, and his recruitment seems to be winding down, with a visit potentially getting pushed to the forefront.

Four-star guard Jalen Coleman is one of the top long range shooters in the country. The La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere standout recently made two official visits, and another one is coming up soon.

Most recently Coleman tripped to Las Vegas to check out UNLV. It was a productive visit for Coleman, and he says he enjoyed it a lot.

“It went well,” noted Coleman. “Going all the way out there and being able to experience it was great. I have been out there so many times for AAU, but actually being on campus was a new experience, and I liked the school a lot.”

Before visiting UNLV, Coleman made an official trip to Notre Dame. The Irish were considered the leader going into the visit, and overall Coleman had a good time, but he now isn’t sure where things stand with Notre Dame.

“I liked ND, I liked the school, and basketball wise with them being in the ACC that was good,” noted Coleman. “They picked Rex (Pflueger) though, and that is for them so I am not sure as of right now if they are considering me.”

Up next for Coleman is Illinois. As of now that visit is set for the weekend of September 27, but it is possible that could get bumped up to this weekend.

About the Illini, Coleman said, “It is a coaching staff I have been talking to since eighth grade. I have known them and the program for a while, and I have seen how they have progressed under Coach (John) Groce, and I like that program a lot.”

For now Coleman says that he is just taking things one day at a time, and isn’t sure of a big picture timeline in his recruitment.

“Right now I have been taking my visits weekend by weekend and analyzing everything,” said Coleman.

Currently Coleman is viewed as the No. 8 shooting guard and the No. 35 prospect overall.
