Rowan opens up recruitment

Four-star forward Maverick Rowan made an early decision, but now things are back open.

Things have definitely been changing for Maverick Rowan. The Pittsburgh area native decided to transfer down to the state of Florida for the high school season, and now he has made a chance in his recruitment as well.

The 6-foot-6 Rowan is an excellent shooter and proved himself to be one of the better players on the adidas Gauntlet in the 2016 class. That lead to early college interest with Pittsburgh landing a commitment from Rowan a little over a year ago.

Now after thinking things over, Rowan has decided that is no longer exactly what he wants.

"I just spoke with his father Ron and Maverick has re-opened his recruitment," said Rowan's AAU Coach Mike Duncan of Ohio Basketball Club.

Rowan's father played at both St. John's and Notre Dame during his college career, and wants his son to have a full picture of the recruiting process before making a college decision.

The expectation is for the Panthers to remain firmly in the mix for Rowan, but now that his recruitment is open numerous other schools will be sure to check in on him before it is all said and done.

Currently Rowan is viewed as the No. 12 small forward and the No. 44 player overall in the 2016 class.
