Jackson commits to UNLV

Highly touted forward Justin Jackson commits to UNLV.

UNLV struck in their own backyard Monday evening.

Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep standout Justin Jackson committed to Dave Rice and his program. Jackson confirmed the news to Scout.com.

“I felt a great sense of family,” Jackson said.” They are a very good program. I liked the facilities and the main things that they were telling me. They are going to put the ball in my hands and they are going to allow me to be who I am. I’m a versatile player.”

UNLV assistant coach Todd Simon was the point man on Jackson’s recruitment. Jackson and Simon are quite familiar with each other, as Simon originally recruited Jackson to Findlay Prep when he was the coach there.

“We have a very strong relationship,” Jackson told Scout.com. “He’s a really cool guy. He takes care of us. He’s a very nice guy. I appreciate everything he’s done for me.”

Jackson said he also considered Arizona and Illinois.

“They made few convincing points,” Jackson said about UNLV. “Coach Rice and coach Simon talked to me a lot. They were one of the schools, with Arizona, that showed a lot of interest in me.”

Jackson, a native of Canada, ranks No. 29 overall in the 2015 class.
