Stevens has serious interest
Forward Lamar Stevens is an explosive athlete who had a very impressive summer with Team Final, and is hoping to continue things with Haverford (Penn.) School. The powerfully built wing had a solid summer and now is hearing from many colleges. “I thought I had a pretty good summer,” said Stevens. “We made it all the way to the Peach Jam championship, so that was cool. I think things could have ended better, but overall it was a pretty good summer.” Always known as a strong and explosive driver who finishes around the rim, Stevens is hoping to show more diversity in his game this season. “I am working on improving my jump shot the most,” said Stevens. “As a team we are just working to get better overall as a unit, and also I know I need to continue to improve my strength and conditioning.” Recruiting wise, numerous schools have already been in to see him this fall. “Vanderbilt, Indiana, Stanford, Villanova, Temple, Penn State, La Salle, Northwestern, and a few others have all been by,” noted Stevens. Indiana offered Stevens over the summer, and it was an offer he definitely was excited about. “I talk to Indiana a lot,” said Stevens of the Hoosiers. “It was really cool, they offered during the Peach Jam. I found out right after the Peach Jam that they offered me, and to talk to Tom Crean has been great.” Just minutes from his high school is Villanova, and Stevens says he has built a good relationship with the coaching staff there. “Villanova, I really like Jay Wright, Ash Howard, Kyle Neptune, and Baker Dunleavy,” said Stevens. “We all talk a lot, and we go up there from time to time to check in. We have had good conversations, and I like that it is close to home.” One school that is very intriguing to Stevens is Stanford, and he says it has been excellent to hear from the Cardinal. “It is a little surreal to hear from Stanford because they are such a well-known school,” noted Stevens. “For them to think I can fit in there, it is great. Talking to the coaches and having them watch me has been awesome.” For now Stevens plans to take his time with the recruiting process, and is gaining as much information as possible about each program.
