Gates makes his pick

Kaiser Gates is now off the board, and is headed north to the Big East.

After making his second official visit, Kaiser Gates decided he had seen enough. The Alpharetta (Ga.) St. Francis standout made the call on Thursday to make his home in the Big East at Xavier University.

A skilled three-star power forward, Gates had a solid summer with the Atlanta Celtics. He has the ability to stretch the floor well beyond three point range while also being someone who can handle the ball and is a solid athlete.

Gates attracted interest from schools such as Missouri, Georgia, and Texas Tech to go along with Xavier, but in the end the Musketeers won out.

Xavier plans to use the versatile forward both on the wing at the power forward position utilizing his unique skill set to fit on their roster which brought in six players in the 2014 class. Gates is the lone commitment for Xavier so far in 2015.

One thing working in Xavier’s favor is that Gates has a lot of family in Southwest Ohio, specifically in Dayton located only about 40 minutes from the Cincinnati based campus.

Gates made his first official visit to Xavier, followed it up with one to Texas Tech, but decided that he fit better at Xavier, and now he will make his home in the Big East.
