Maitland commits to Morehead State
Sean Woods and Morehead State picked up one of their top targets on Saturday. Malik Maitland, a 5-foot-11 lead guard out of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Father Lopez, informed Scout.com that he committed to the Eagles shortly after returning home from his official visit to their campus. “Just the feel,” Maitland said when asked what led to his commitment. “I had a good vibe when I landed in Kentucky. I felt like I was at home honestly.” Maitland also considered interest from Liberty, Norfolk State, NCCU, Arkansas State, Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida and IPFW. “My relationship with coach Woods is good,” he said. “Me and him are really close. He’s the type of guy when you step on the court he’s a different person. He wants you to be great.” Maitland, who played with E1T1 in the summer, is Morehead State’s first commitment of the 2015 class.
