Kyle Guy makes his pick

Kyle Guy made his selection and he is headed to the ACC for college.

Four-star shooting guard Kyle Guy from Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central made an unofficial visit over the weekend and decided that he had seen enough. The talented scorer decided to make his home in the ACC.

At 6-foot-2 with an excellent shooting stroke, Guy opened up a lot of eyes during the summer. Schools such as Indiana, Purdue, Butler, Xavier, Missouri, Iowa State, Ole Miss, and many others offered Guy a scholarship, but in the end it was Virginia that got it done.

Guy visited the Virginia campus over the weekend and decided it was the best place for him.

“When I was there I got the feeling multiple times that I knew this was the place for me and that I could envision myself there,” explained Guy. “Coach (Tony) Bennett was perfect for me so I decided to commit.”

Going into the visit Guy both publically and privately had made it known he intended to wait a while before choosing his school, but he just saw no reason to wait after making the trip.

“I was more surprised than anybody that I committed,” explained Guy. “However when I got there and knew it was the right place, there was no reason to wait.”

Guy is someone who sees himself playing a combo guard type role at Virginia, and he feels the style of play the school utilized will fit his game well.

“I think I fit in perfectly with what Coach Bennett likes to do,” said Guy. “It is a freedom offense within a structure. He gets up and down and slows it down as well. Also I love that he preaches defense. I’m just all in.”

Guy is the second commitment for Virginia in the 2016 class. He is the No. 18 ranked shooting guard and the No. 89 player overall.
